Hmmm... it's quite of a secret there at Impulse about all the features,
but the ones they seem to be more proud are a new algorithm textures
format, and what they claim to be the best implementation of bones and
particles ever done. It's not that hard to believe, since Impulse's
one of the companies most commited to their software I've ever known.
Believe me or not, Imagine in it's 2.0 version has advantages even over
LWPro. Where's the LW's Forms and cycle editor? It helps A LOT for
high end uses, and to some extent even to low end ones. Where Lightwave
smashes Imagine is in the layout, and that makes all the difference.
If they can make the scene editor more practical, enabling us to move
elements in the perspective/camera views, and making the refreshing of
the screen faster (maybe grouping parallel/edge connecting polys in just
one viewable polygon, even if it's still all triangles - it's beautier
and smoother to render triangles, and get us rid of boring normals and
degenerate polys), I'm quite sure Lightwave will be in serious trouble,
since it's lacking in almost all the other areas when compared to Imagine.
